This site hosts a searchable library of
otherwise unpublished material on alternative finance for development. It is
managed by Intermediate Technology Publications, and is funded by the Ford
Foundation.
Book Aid International
Book Aid International works to send books
to libraries and other organizations in the developing world. It also publishes
a catalogue of books on NGO Management. These books are all available from
Intermediate Technology Publications.
Centre for Alternative Technology
The main UK-focused organization working on
alternative technology issues. A great place to visit in person, as well as on
the web.
FAO Publications
The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the
United Nations publishes many books which will be useful to people working in
development. Many FAO titles are available from stock from the IT
Bookshop.
Institute of Development Studies at
the University of Sussex Online Bookshop
The IDS Online Bookshop has many titles on
development research. These books are also available from the IT
Bookshop.
International Development Research Centre, Ottawa
IDRC is one of the world's leading
development research institutions. Intermediate Technology Publications is the
European agent for IDRC Books.
IT Peru
Intermediate Technology's Peru Office has a
well-developed web site with many features. Information is available in both
English and Spanish.
Koninklijk Instituut voor de Tropen
Royal Tropical Institute, Amsterdam
The Royal Tropical Institute, Amsterdam, is
the major Dutch ethnographical institution. As well as an excellent museum, it
has a major publishing programme, including titles on cultural and
anthropology, health and rural development, gender issues, and on agriculture
and rural development. Intermediate Technology Publications is the UK agent for
KIT Press, the publishing department of the Royal Tropical Institute.
Swiss Centre for Development Cooperation in
Technology and Management (SKAT)
SKAT, in St. Gallen, Switzerland, has
programmes in a number of technical areas which complement the work of
Intermediate Technology, including building technology, waste management and
micro-hydro power. Intermediate Technology Publications is the world

TALC specializes in providing low-cost books
